Most families I know love the idea of tropical, adventurous travel, but end up back in Bali because it feels safe and easy. The problem is, planning something different takes hours of research, and it’s hard to know what’s safe, what’s authentic, and what’s just a tourist trap.

I started Better than Bali to help families discover safe, authentic adventures across Southeast Asia. I make it simple to step off-the-beaten track without the stress of figuring it all out on your own.

My itineraries are based on personal experience and contacts I have made over the decades of travelling with my family. They are custom-made for your family – based on your ages, passions, budget and travel-style. They are designed to be adventurous but never overwhelming, with natural wonders, local stays, and experiences that bring you closer together as a family.

If I can choose between a fancy resort or a simple bungalow on the beach, I’ll take the bungalow every time. I pack light, usually just a backpack with the basics, and I’d always rather a barefoot dinner on the sand than a fine-dining restaurant.
